Whippoorwill (Never Again for me)
Written by Blyler and Fagan
(Whistle) I heard the birdies, they were calling for me.
(Whistle) These birds thro’ life my friend, I thought they would be.
They flew ‘round me and my gal.
Each one said “Kids I’m your pal.” Oh!
(Whistle) I took a birdie home to share him my nest
(Whistle) Two birds were seen a-flying ‘way two abreast
He took gal and money, they left me clean,
I looked around, no birds to be seen,
Oh! Meadowlark! Whippoorwill!
Never again for me!
Never again for me!
(Whistle) I hear a birdie singing in yonder tree.
(Whistle) It is a chirp that sound familiar to me.
Tries to tell me where she’s been,
One look shows me she’s all in! Oh!
(Whistle) You needn’t come and chirp that old tale to me
(Whistle)You are divorced now here’s your final decree,
My nest is full go get your old mate,
Just breeze along, aviate,
Oh! Meadowlark! Whippoorwill!
Never again for me!
Never again for me!
